What Is a Flood Dose?
A flood dose is a single, full treatment dose of ibogaine, given in one supervised session. At Freedom Ibogaine, it’s usually given early in your stay, on day 2 or 3, after your medical screening.
Your flood dose ibogaine treatment happens in a private room set up to help you feel at ease, with a carefully chosen playlist, a soft light projector and a comfortable bed. You’ll have two physicians plus our nursing team in the room, and a heart monitor tracks every beat from start to finish. The session runs for many hours, and you’re never left alone during it.

Safety Comes First
Ibogaine can cause dangerous changes in heart rhythm, and it isn’t safe for everyone. That’s why every client gets an EKG, full blood work and a review of their medical history and medications before treatment, and why some people are not candidates. Before your dose, our doctors go over your heart tracing, your blood work, including liver and kidney function and electrolytes, and each medication or supplement you’re on. If anything looks off, your dose waits. If ibogaine is the wrong fit for you, we’ll say so.
Ibogaine is not a cure. It can be a strong starting point, and what you do after treatment matters.

What Is Ibogaine?
Ibogaine is a psychoactive compound from the root bark of the iboga shrub, native to West Africa, where it has a long history of traditional use. It acts on several systems in the brain, including opioid, serotonin and dopamine pathways. Many people report fewer withdrawal symptoms and cravings after treatment, and some describe it as a time of deep reflection. Research is still limited, results vary, and it is not a cure.
With a flood dose, you take one full treatment dose instead of small amounts spread over weeks. That’s why it calls for medical supervision, a cleared schedule and a team that knows what to watch for.
How Treatment Works, Step by Step
Here’s what to expect, from your first call to the day you go home.
1. Apply and Plan Your Stay
Fill out a short application. Our team reviews your health history and substance use with you, and plans any transition off long-acting opioids like methadone or Suboxone, which takes extra time.
2. We Arrange Your Ride
We arrange your ride from San Diego to our clinic in Rosarito, about 25 minutes from Tijuana.
3. Medical Screening on Arrival
An EKG, full blood work and a review of your medical history and medications. You’re only cleared for treatment if it’s safe for you.
4. Your Flood Dose Session
Usually on day 2 or 3 of your stay, in a quiet room of your own with music and soft light. Two physicians and our nurses stay for the entire session, and your heart is monitored throughout.
5. Rest and Recovery
The days after your session are for rest and recovery, with all meals included and care around the clock.
Your program also includes individual and group therapy sessions, where you can talk through what came up and start planning for life at home. Yoga and sound healing help your body and mind settle, and your week also includes a guided 5-MeO-DMT experience. All of it is covered by the program price.
6. Going Home, or Staying Longer
Most people stay 7 nights. If you need more time for detox or recovery, a longer stay is available.
Who We Treat
People dependent on fentanyl and other opioids, heroin, kratom and 7-OH, Suboxone, methadone, alcohol, meth or cocaine. Many of our clients are veterans and first responders living with PTSD and trauma.
Using more than one substance? That’s common, and we plan your treatment around all of it.
Who Can’t Be Treated
People with heart conditions or irregular heart rhythms, pregnant women, and people with severe liver or kidney disease. Certain psychiatric conditions and medications can also rule someone out. Our screening decides.
Where You’ll Stay
Our clinic in Rosarito has ocean views and comfortable rooms, with all meals included and care around the clock. Most guests use the days around their session to rest, eat well and recover with the ocean in view. Bring a book, headphones or anything else that helps you feel at home.
